The ASGE Education Achievement Program (EAP) is designed to recognize physicians who are dedicated to pursuing education in endoscopy, and improving their ability to provide the most effective care for their patients.

To recognize the commitment of such practitioners, participants who meet the criteria will receive:

  • A frameable Certificate of Achievement in Endoscopy Education.
  • Special discounts (in addition to the discounted member rate) on ASGE educational products and courses for up to two years.
  • Inclusion in annual listing of recognized physicians in GIE: Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and ASGE News
  • Recognition at the ASGE Crystal Awards during Digestive Disease Week®.
  • A template press release to use to promote your achievement to your community.

Educational Requirements 

All participants must be ASGE Active or International members. Dedication to professional development must be demonstrated by completion of at least thirty (30) CME credits in endoscopy-related education, including demonstration of skills training, increased scientific knowledge and reflection on learning. All activities must be completed within the two years prior to the application submission date.

Specifically, the thirty (30) CME credits must include the following:

  • Skills Training: At least fifteen (15) CME credits through ASGE-sponsored or ASGE-endorsed hands-on courses. This must include at least one (1) ASGE Master s Series Course or a minimum of six (6) hours of hands-on training at EndoFestTM.
  • Scientific Knowledge: At least six (6) completed CME activities (or CME credits) through any combination of GIE: Gastrointestinal Endoscopy or the ASGE On-Line Learning Center Clinical Guidelines CME.
  • Reflection on Learning: Completion and submission of a follow-up questionnaire in conjunction with your application indicating how your competence, skills and/or patient care have changed as a result of participating in continuing education in endoscopy.

The remaining CME credits may be obtained through non-ASGE endorsed or sponsored activities but must be AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM related to endoscopy through an ACCME-accredited organization. All activities will be reviewed by the ASGE CME Programs Committee as part of the application.

To apply for the Program, you must submit the following:

  • Program application listing all relevant activities within the two (2) years prior to the application submission date. Activities must be completed at the time of application.
  • Documentation of participation in any listed activities that are not ASGE-sponsored (CME transcripts, CME certificates and certificates of attendance are accepted).
  • Reflection on Learning questionnaire.
  • $350 program application fee (if the application is not approved, this fee will be returned minus a $100 processing fee).

Applications will be approved quarterly, and applications must be received two weeks prior to that date for participants to receive benefits for the complete two-year period.

Applications submitted after the application deadline will be moved forward to the next application cycle.

This program is designed for ASGE members. Program benefits may be discontinued without a refund if ASGE membership is not maintained throughout the program cycle.

FAQs

If my application has been approved but I already registered for an upcoming course at the regular member rate, can I still get my discount?
Yes. If the course takes place after your application is approved and you have already registered for that course, a refund will be issued in the amount of any applicable discount.

If the course takes place before your application is approved, you will not receive a retroactive discount.

Will I get discounts on all ASGE products and courses?
Participants will get discounts on most ASGE products and courses. Certain courses may not apply such as DDW® or courses that are jointly-sponsored with another organization.

How much of a discount will I receive on products on courses?
Program participants will receive a 15% discount on all products in addition to the membership discount. Course discounts will vary depending on the course.

How will I get my discounts?
Discounts for applicable courses will be included in the brochure and on-line registration. Product discounts will be an option included on order forms. ASGE will confirm your participation in Education Achievement Program before issuing discounts.

Can I include an upcoming course or GIE article on my application?
No. The application must be submitted after all of the required education is completed.

Is a complementary ticket to the Crystal Awards included in the program?
No. Program participants will be recognized at the Crystal Awards, but will be responsible for purchasing their own ticket to attend.

Can I publicize my achievement to my patients?
Yes! We encourage you to use the certificate and press release to share your achievement with your patients and community. If you need additional information from ASGE, please email education@asge.org.
